In 2005, the Walloon Region initiated a study on the "Industrial sector of renewable energies in Wallonia". This study, carried out through the implementation of a vast survey, simultaneously established the situation of the sector of companies active in renewable energy sources and research in this field. The information gathered during this study has since served to objectively support the Region's actions in the development of this industrial sector of renewable energy sources. In order to assess the impact of the measures implemented since the results of the previous survey and to be able to identify future complementary actions to develop this sector, it was decided by the Walloon Region to update this survey.
