VallEnergie

Atteindre l’autonomie énergétique de la Vallée de l’Attert belgo-luxembourgeoise gérée par le local

 Period

2012-2015

 Context

This project, submitted by the non-profit association "Au pays de l'Attert", was introduced as part of the 8th Interreg IVA call for projects. The following actions will be carried out over two and a half years in the cross-border Attert Valley area: 1. Analysis of energy production and consumption in municipal buildings 2. How to involve the population of the Attert valley in energy production? 3. New renewable energy concepts: - establishment of a project of 4 positive energy houses - feasibility of a wood chips sector - district heating networks - drying of agricultural materials via the use of surplus green electricity or the recovery of heat emitted by a photovoltaic installation or the use of heat from a biomethanisation plant 4. Adaptation of urban planning regulations in order to authorise the construction of buildings with optimal energy performance (e.g. roof overflows to the south, bay areas, healthy materials, etc.) 5. Setting up a scientific and recreational infrastructure to respond professionally to the demand of multiple visitors. 6. Awareness-raising, promotion and training campaign on the use of renewable energies

 Objectives

To achieve the energy autonomy of the Belgian-Luxembourg Attert valley managed by the local authority.

 Specific BEMS Tasks
  • Establishment of a project of 4 positive energy houses

  • TRNSYS simulation for optimization of the energy systems and the envelope of the 4 houses of the project.

  • Participation in an awareness, advice and promotion campaign to create an enthusiastic climate in favour of renewable energies.
